Exhibition Conditions:
a. All new applications for exhibitions must be submitted for approval with accompanying examples of work.
b. During December and January, Baw Baw Arts Alliance (Bbaa) holds its own exhibitions so we will not accept any applications for this period.
c. All exhibitions’ spaces are subject to availability. When we receive your application, dates will be discussed based on availability of the spaces.
d. Exhibition hire is to be paid in full prior to the exhibition.
e. Artists must agree to abide by the rules and regulations established by the Management Committee relating to the service and display, and sale of work, or any other matter congruent with the Bbaa mission.
f. All work must be the original work of the exhibitor and must be for genuine sale.
g. Entries will be displayed at the Committee’s discretion.
h. No artwork will be stored at the Gallery.
i. Artists or the Group Organiser must provide an Inventory of work and Labels for each piece of artwork displayed.
j. Exhibits must be clearly marked on the back with the: Title, artist’s name, medium and sale price.
k. Artwork that is sold during the exhibition will incur a 20% commission. The Value of artworks sold, less commission, will be paid to the artist promptly in the month following the exhibition.
l. Artists will need to provide Bank details to enable Direct Deposits of sales.
m. Artwork will not be insured by the Gallery and Bbaa against loss or damage. If such cover is required, the artist must obtain or hold appropriate comprehensive insurance. The Bbaa will take every care with exhibits but does not accept responsibility for any such damage or loss.
VIEWING TIMES
The Station Gallery is open to the public Wednesday to Sunday, from 10:00am – 3pm.
Options for your proposed exhibition.
Please visit the spaces before making your application. We have two areas within The Station Gallery Yarragon. The Gallery which consists of the main gallery area, or the Wall.

Only Bbaa members can apply for the Wall space which is 5 metre long by 2.3 metre high and is $20.
Solo Exhibitions
The cost is $200 per exhibition [$240 for non Bbaa members]
Shared Exhibitions
Exhibitions are shared up to 4 artists. Cost is $200 per exhibition. [$240 for non Bbaa members]
Group Exhibitions
At least one member of the group must be a member of Bbaa, its preferable this Bbaa member is also the organiser.
Cost per exhibition is $200.
Special Exhibitions organised by Bbaa or a Bbaa Member to celebrate a special event will cost $5 for members or $8 for non-members per entry and an Individual entry form is to be completed by each artist. We have online entries. The Organiser will be responsible for the Inventory of work.
Exhibitions
The duration of an exhibition is generally for a calendar month starting on the first Wednesday of the month to the last Sunday of the month unless other arrangements are made with the Exhibition Coordinator. Longer or shorter times may be negotiated based on availability.
The bump in date is generally between 3-4 pm on the Sunday prior to the exhibition.
Exhibitions are hung the following Tuesday at 10am.
Bump out is 3-4pm on the final Sunday of the exhibition.
Hanging of Artwork
The Gallery and the Wall have a gallery hanging system. All work for hanging must be framed or presented with a secure hanging system. Flat D ring hangers and strong wire are desirable.
Free standing artwork must be capable of supporting itself in order to comply with our duty of care to the general public and staff under the Workplace Occupational Health and Safety Act Victoria. If management deem artwork incapable of complying with the above, it will not be permitted to be part of the exhibition.
Under the conditions of our lease, we are not permitted to attach anything to the ceiling or floor of the gallery. In order to maintain the presentation of the heritage venue, the use of stickers, pins, nails, screws, glue, Velcro dots, double sided tape, sticky, masking or gaffa tape is not permitted.
The use of Blu tac will not be permitted for title labels or numbers on the walls. Blu tack can be used to attach the Title labels to the back of the frame of the artwork. Remember to print them longer to allow them to attach to your frame.
Exhibition Opening
Exhibition openings are a great marketing tool to advertise your exhibition and allows you to invite your previous customers, possible new customers, fellow artists, family as well as social media followers to your new work. If you will be holding an exhibition opening ceremony, please advise on the application form.
We will discuss actual dates and times on approval of the application. We prefer to have the opening on either a Saturday or Sunday at 2pm till 4pm.
Catering and cleanup is your responsibility. We do not sell alcohol at our functions, so a Liquor License is not required. A gallery assistant will attend the opening to open and close the gallery and help with sales and any questions you or guests might have on the day.
Our Wall and Gallery exhibitions tend to open on the same day so if you would like to have a joint exhibition opening, we can put you in touch with the other artist and you can arrange catering and advertising of your events.
PROMOTION OF EXHIBITION
Bbaa is happy to assist with promoting your exhibition. Our publicity team with be in touch with you for additional information. We need to have approx. 5 photos of your exhibition artwork, an artist statement or profile piece and your social media page links, a minimum of three months before the exhibition for our newsletter and advertising purposes deadlines.
Bbaa will produce a flyer for your exhibition which we will provide to you via email. We also provide the flyers to several other galleries in the Gippsland region.
We will include exhibition details in our Bbaa Newsletter, on our website www.bawbawartsalliance.org.au , in our updates and e-newsletters. We will advertise in the local media, social media and in the Art Almanac magazine. Means of advertising may change from time to time.
SELF PROMOTION OF EXHIBITION
Artists are strongly encouraged to provide additional promotional material for their exhibition, advertise and/or list their exhibition in other publications, social media and if you have a website. We encourage you to have an exhibition opening.
