The third issue of Catchment – Poetry of Place has received submissions from around 75 poets from most Australian states and territories.
Just under 60 of those writers have offered longer pieces, while more than 30 have contributed tanka. (Some poets provided work in both genres.)
True to goals of the Baw Baw Arts Alliance, we aim to be culturally inclusive, through offering this rare opportunity to poets to submit work arising from contrasting literary traditions.
While the small team producing Catchment is sadly not in a position to deal with a mass of international submissions, various poems selected for publication explore settings located offshore.
We are proud to present writing in Edition 3 which continues to celebrate places of beauty, while also interrogating challenges faced in human interaction with rural landscapes & urban contexts.
Again, editor Rodney Williams is deeply grateful to Marlene & Mike Ogden from the IT team for all their fabulous work, as well as to Jennifer Fell & Jo McInerney for their tremendous assistance editorially in selecting poems for inclusion.
As ever, deepest thanks are likewise extended to the Baw Baw Arts Alliance for hosting Catchment on its website, for this Third Edition, based in West Gippsland, Victoria, working on Kurnai country.
